I am a Canadian artist and have been working with colour pencils since the winter of 2018. I started by working on many different subjects but quickly realized I enjoy working on animal and bird portraits. I choose animals I have encountered personally and have a memory or emotion that I can attach to them. Attempting to transfer those feelings to the portrait is where the fun and challenge lies.

Colour pencil is an intense process. There are up to 30 layers of colour which are then melded together to create the final effect. The smallest pictures I have done took over 20 hours to create with large ones taking up to 45-60 hours. I find the process relaxing and love watching the final colours start to show.

I work with archival coloured pencils from Derwent, Faber Castell and Caran D’Ache. Pictures are rendered on 100% cotton Stonehenge paper by Legion. All prints are Archival Giclee prints. All references are my own or used with permission.

I do commissions.
